First it was the home of event stylist and Georgeous Occasions founder, Georgie. Then slowly…it morphed into a home office. Now, after seven years and six full-time staff members, this converted office which houses the Georgeous Occasions girls is nothing short of, well, gorgeous.
A quick double check of the address is almost a prerequisite when visiting Georgeous Occasions for the first time, due to the office’s location in a decidedly residential pocket of St Kilda.
After a quick reassurance that yes, this is the place, a few sharp turns towards a set of external stairs through to a street-fronting second floor apartment, reveals a set of lovingly curated trinkets at every turn.
Once inside, quirky furniture pieces and once-loved wedding props creatively fill every corner, and it becomes clear this is a space where endless ideas are born.
‘Every item in this office tells a story, some of the treasures have been passed down from my Grandmother, other bits and pieces I’ve picked up along the way, and many are items from events where we’ve been lucky enough to collaborate with artists like Juliet Horsley or Greg Hatton’ says Georgie.
Nothing bar the Mac computers and IKEA desks are new, as everything else has been collected or accumulated from the many weddings, events and other corporate functions the team has been entrusted with to dream up and create.
A pastel Miranda Skoczek canvas sits above one of the desks in the former living room, ‘the first piece of art I ever bought,’ says Georgie, while elsewhere framed pictures and articles tell the story of seven years in the business.
Although now strictly just an office it’s hard not to feel the remnants of this once-homely place, and that lived-in sense still prevails today.
Perhaps it’s what makes these girls so decidedly friendly – because work doesn’t feel so much like work if it’s at home.
