An industrial dome-shaped structure of scaffolding on the outside, transformed into a fine dining experience on the inside and located on the roof of Crown Towers, the Masterchef Dining Pop Up Restaurant is no mean feat.
Designed by Alex Zabotto-Bentley and his team at AZBcreative, stepping into the seemingly-impossible space you are instantly transported to a European kitchen.
Forget what you know about pop up designs, for AZBcreative, using materials usually reserved for permanent structures, like marble, wall treatments and custom-made Victorian columns, is what makes this Pop Up design so successful.
Subtle intimate touches such as brass table lamps feature on every dining table, while 33 vintage white glass pendant lights floating over the dining space.
A custom designed geometric floor surrounds and frames the centralised kitchen which is a hive of activity as nightly the series of chefs buzz away to bring the tastes of Masterchef to Melbourne’s hungry diners.
The kitchen itself was a key focus of the design and features 16 metres of carrara marble, with custom made powder coated steel shelves which AZB’s design team embelished with produce and authentic Italian ceramics.
The kitchen fascia was complete with Italian jade green tiles and finished with beautiful recycled raw Oregon counter tops.
So whether you come for the food or to experience AZBcreative’s impressive play on the traditional ‘pop up’ experience, either way it’s sure to be a feast you’ll enjoy.
Melbourne’s Masterchef Bar and Dining dates commence Tuesday 1st October 2013
