Bright, bold prints, zebra skin rugs and hanging animal skulls; it’s enough to make you want to go on safari, which is exactly what the owner of Mister Zimi, the Bali-based fashion label, wanted to achieve when creating the aesthetic behind the brand’s flagship Melbourne store in Armadale.
Tucked away down one of the cutest arcades quite possibly ever invented, Mister Zimi’s Melbourne store is a constantly evolving canvas, with the interiors changing every season in line with the designer’s new range.
The current Autumn Winter range is titled Safari, so out went last season’s Mexican-themed cacti, sugar skulls and Aztec prints, replaced with African baskets, animal skins and weathered leather accents.
It also helps to count Lucy Fenton of Fenton and Fenton amongst close friends, with much of the pendant lighting – including a signature wire chandelier – and other furniture pieces, on loan from the iconic interiors store.
The Turkish rugs and other antique pieces dotted around the space are all available for sale, which owner, Zoe says provide a constant source of inspiration for future collections.
So save yourself the thousands of dollars on flights to faraway exotic locations, and take a trip to Mister Zimi instead, who knows what you will discover.
